#02 - How much fact in your fiction?

Yes, it's true. Many manuscripts in the writing start out as placed in one genre and end up in another. That's a fact! How is that possible? Well, a good example could be when you set out to write an Action & Adventure work of fiction. Without necessarily being aware of it, you find, halfway through the manuscript, you have drifted toward writing about a real person … one that maybe you have known in the dim and distant past. You end up actually putting down on the written page, a synopsis of the life of a humorous, ebullient and adventurous character you knew well in a previous part of your life. So, asking the question about 'how much fact is in your fiction?' highlights a common situation. Beware of slipping into this trap … it happens all too often!
